What Is It??

Cake time again! Yay! hehe This time, my table isn't a complete and utter mess. Nice and neat :) This is for a birthday party, a 21st in fact, for my coworker's niece :)  I won't tell you what it is until the end... hopefully, you'll guess what it is before then.  Above has the red velvet cake already nice and mixed - added extra red coloring to try to make it even darker. Not sure if it worked... I put it in a loaf pan to get a nice fluffy rectangle :)  I also made a small 6'' circle cake and two cupcakes - one cupcake just for Evelynn because she wanted some cake... cream cheese frosting because, duh, it's red velvet cake.  Made the fondant that morning and gave it a bit of brown and a bit of black - the black certainly overpowered the brown... Covered the rectangle cake and stretched and folded over parts of the fondant to get those center three.. umm.. flaps I guess. Started punching out circles to start adding the texture.

Evelynn's 3rd Birthday!!

My little girl is turning three, so as a treat, I wanted to make her cake of course! :) Since cutting cakes is a hassle to me, I decided on a normal sized cake shaped for her theme (Doc Mcstuffins!) and cupcakes for easy picking and eating for guests. Let's just jump right into it!  The cupcakes were milk chocolate ones and the cake is, of course, birthday cake flavor. Yes, it is 9:14 PM as I am baking. Love to wait until the last minute. I did make the fondant the night before though!  The cake out of the pan and the cupcakes all nice and purty (note to self: don't stack milk chocolate cupcakes on each other, they stick!) The new (and cheap!) cupcake platter I bought :) Set up the cupcakes to see how many I needed to decorate (had four extra I think, three after Eevee ate one.) Getting everything ready... so much stuff... No, I didn't use all of this, but I take everything out in case I am hit with inspiration!  Cupcakes frosted and dec

Happy Birthday, Sam! :)

I had a lot of fun making this cake, especially since I had a little assistant - although I'm not sure how much she actually helped me...  Anywho, to start off, we mixed up a simple sugar cookie dough - and by we, I mean my daughter attempted to mix it for about a minute, gave up and proceeded to have me mix the rest. Once it was nice and mixed, we filled the bottom of a 9'' springform pan. We used about half the dough to fill the entire pan. She looks like she's doing a great job - She's gonna become a pro like me! :)  Once it was nice and golden brown along the edges, I let it cool. I poked it a few times making sure it wasn't too soft. This is my first giant cookie! Once cooled, we removed the sides and there you have a nice flat cookie. Now, I will say it didn't come off as cleanly as I hoped. Next time, I think I'm going to put a cookie sheet underneath. Cooking spray just didn't cut it.  Now what do we do with

Catching Up!

Sorry for the long wait (if anyone is waiting..), but life had gotten rather busy and FFXIV has taken over my life... the hours wasting... no regrets!  Anyways, since my last post was... Halloween?! Holy crapper doodle... the baking had not ended, just the blogging :(  So let's time travel back to November 2013 and see my first (and only so far) attempt at potato candy.  Intrigued? I had never heard of them until I stumbled across one on, most likely, pinterest.  So, not really paying close attention to the directions or recipe, I used more than one potato. Big mistake. You end up with a whole ton of dough and you use up a whole lot of sugar.  Above is the rolled out potato dough (cooked and softened potatoes mixed with A LOT of powder sugar) Since I had so much dough, I decided to make one nutella roll and one peanut butter roll. Nutella and Skippy should pay me for the ad placement :)  Look at that roll, oh man, so pro.  After they are
